He didn't lose any limbs I am happy to say but sadly his eye sight was damaged and he was left partly sighted and needs a helping hand or paw when moving around but what would be truly wonderful would be an old faithful dog for him!
Poor old Sgt Tatters looks like he was dragged through the trenches backwards too , but it was a rough time and existence for many a young bear back then taking all that was thrown and fired at them !
Sgt Tatters dates to the c1940s and has an air of Chiltern about him ,
He measures a slumpy 16" but not slouchy I must add as an old soldier never slouches even his stuffing has mostly gone .
Stuffed with kapok to his body and wood wool to his head and lots of memories of War time battles too!
Sgt Tatters here has buttons for eyes as he lost his eyesight after being hit by shrapnel but even though he is pretty much blind and lives in a darkened world his bear senses a very attuned.
HSgt Tatters has only a few threads left of his nose stitching these days so he can only just smell his favourite fragrant honey and his smile was sadly lost many years ago along with many of his brave comrade bears so we are rather hoping that with special care and love he will perhaps learn to smile again .
Because Sgt Tatters was a very brave old bear in the War he was awarded a medal for his bravery and courage by the king and he proudly wears his medal pinned to his chest to this day as a reminder of what he fought for and for all his old pals that were sadly lost.
He still wears his faithful old knitted trousers that have kept his poor old tired legs warm all these years too bless him .
Sgt Tatters is looking for an Old soldiers home where he chat and remissness with perhaps other old bears just like him that bravely fought as he has been on his own with no company now for many an old bear year.
This wonderful, old character of a bear comes also too with his Special Causality of War label from Once upon a time bears that is similar to the original Casualty labels used in the War for the injured .
Sgt Tatters is indeed a remarkable old boy and we think he truly deserves a loving home don't you?
REF B1203 £59 💌SORRY I AM SPOKEN FOR
She loves to sit in the garden reading Fairy tales and picking daisies to make beautiful daisy chains to wear.
Daisy is a Pedigree bear , she is an unjointed bear stuffed softly throughout with kapok making her a lovely soft bear to cuddle.
She measures approximately 17" in height and has her original amber plastic safety eyes and nose stitching all in perfect order.
Daisy has her original blue and white printed Pedigree Made in Ireland label on th back of her neck.
Around her neck on blue ribbon she has a tiny Once upon a time book charm and little bell and Rocking horse charm .
Daisy is looking for a home full of prettiness , Love and daisies and I don't think it will be long before she finds this do you?
REF B1197 SORRY I HAVE BEEN ADOPTED
Daisies are her favourite flowers by far in the garden and in the woods and she wont hear of it or let it be said ever that they are weeds as to her they are the most prettiest and beautiful flowers of all although she does rather like the blue bells and forget-me-nots that she sometimes finds in Merry-thought wood!
Madge is a lovely little well loved and hugged Once upon a time Merrythought bear dating to C1930/40.
She still has her original metal and celluloid Merrythought Wishbone button on her back near to her left shoulder which is a rare little find.
Madge also has her Merrythought toys stitched early label sewn to her right foot pad too although it is a little age darkened with the passing years.
This lovely little bear measures approximately 15" in height and is stuffed with a mixture of kapok and wood wool . Her legs and arms and body are stuffed with kapok and her head is stuffed with woodwool and happy old bear thoughts and memories and being over eighty bear years she has a good few of them too !!
She is a five-way jointed little bear and all her joints turn and move although they an be little stiff for her at times like all old bears when they get to her age but she still manages to go on her daily rambles and walks through Merry -thoughts wood.
Her nose stitching and mouth stitching is all original to her and she has just had a couple of her nose stitches kissed away over the years but we can always forgive an old bear for this cant we?
She has just a light covering here and there left of her original blonde coloured mohair due to being loved and hugged away over the years and she was a War bear too in the Second World war so she would have been hugged and squeezed just that little bit more too!
Her paw pads are all covered in their original brown cotton cloth material and are in good shape really with no holes in any of them .
She has lost her original web claw stitching sadly to her left paw pad but retained it on her right paw pad and has three black claw stitches intact to each foot .
She appears to have had a couple of historic neat stitches added under her crutch area to the seam but this is not worrying and is held securely and firmly.
Madge is looking for New pastures to make daisy chains in and should you be able to recommend any to her she will come dressed to yours in her pretty blue and white checked vintage dress wearing her little bracelet and with all her ribbons and daisies decorating her too !
REF B1177 💗SORRY I HAVE BEEN ADOPTED
She is always looking at the new styles and prints for each Season in the magazines and gazing in the shop windows but as her Pinny dress pockets don't stretch to buying the expensive dresses hanging on the brass rails she has become quite rather skilled at copying the patterns herself and making her own pretty dresses like the one she is wearing today!
Her favourites dresses of all are the colourful floral paisley print ones infact she has put her best one on today for us all with a matching necklace she bought at a Bring and buy sale in aid of the Wounded soldiers from the War.
This sweet little bear dates to C1930/40 and is a English little bear.
She measures a mere 12" and is a slip of a bear with her slender waist and slimline bear figure!
Miss Paisley is stuffed softly with kapok to her body and limbs and wood wool to her head and sewing patterns and dress designs too !
She is a five-way jointed little bear and all her joints move and turn which is always good news for a bear that loves ' Couture' which is French for dressmaking she tells me!
This poor old bear has been a well loved little bear over the years and she has but a few tufts of mohair left on her body these days as it has all been loved away.
She has mos of her nose stitching remaining but has only a few strands left of her original mouth stitching but this gives her that Special Old bear charm that comes only with love over the years.
Bless her little cotton paw pads too as they have been lovingly patched over many years ago one in faint floral [patterned material too no less !
She has just a few remaining of her original black claw stitches and her lost eyes have been replaced with wooden shoe buttons which suit her daintiness.
Miss Paisley has had a few stitches added to her tummy seam too it would appear at some time in he life but she didn't want to share with us what happened so we wont press her either and so not squeak will ever come out of her !
Should this sweet little bear be tugging at your heart strings as you are reading , she comes dressed in her pretty vintage handmade dress with little wooden beaded necklace and lace head bow and carrying a little flower in her paw too .and because she is a Casualty of Love bear she comes with her own Special label for you to fill out for her..........Tempted?
