He is always coming back from the auctions with pieces of furniture that to some people look like they have seen better days but after his loving care and wood working skills they are soon looking wonderful once more and disappear just as quickly from his antique shop to go to their new homes!
Little Oak is a European little brown bear and dates to C1950.
He measures 15 1/2" tall.
He came to England many years ago in the Autumn with a travelling fair and has fond memories of his journeys to different towns and village greens and the day he finally won a little girls heart and found a loving home.
Little Oak is in his Autumn years now and is hoping to retire and would dearly like to find a huggery for antiquarian bears .
He has retained a good coverage all over of his short brown plush with very little thinning .
His neck is jointed and moves very slightly partly due to the way in which he has been made and jointed.
Little Oak has perfect eyesight too as he has retained his original small amber and black glass eyes .
His muzzle and ear linings are made with the same peachy coloured wool material and his paw pads are covered in their original flesh pink coloured wool felt and all are in good order with no holes in any of them.
Little Oak has kept perfectly too his original black nose and mouth stitching .
He is stuffed solidly throughout with a wood wool filling which helps him to always sit up straight and never slump just the way that he was taught to from being a young bear !
Oak comes to you with his neck ribbon and wooden beads around his neck spelling his name OAK.
Little Oak loves the Autumn when the trees all start to change in colour to various shades of browns and golds and he remembers fondly his time with the travelling Autumn fair.
We do hope that dear Little Oak will find a loving home again this Autumn .
REF B1037 SORRY I HAVE BEEN ADOPTED
Claude is full of great excitement about his future life here because he has heard so many wonderful stories about England but never been before and he was told on good bear authority that there are far more bear homes to retire to also if he comes to England!
He is a very unusual , rare and rather distinguished looking French bear , with his brown plush lined ears and pads and peachy apricot coloured mohair.
We are currently not quite sure of his French maker he does have a hint of a look of a Pintel bear especially with his type of nose and mouth stitching .However his little red felt tongue is puzzling us as this was a characteristic used by two other French bear companies' Effel ' and 'Jan Jac ' but Claude doesn't really look like either of their bears.
Claude measures approximately 15" in height and dates to C1940/50 we believe but he could even be a little earlier.
His mohair is a pretty shade of a light peachy apricot colour , quite long and wavy too. He has some thinning and bare areas in parts ,this is mainly visible on the back of him , on the back of his legs and on the back of head towards his neck joint.
There is also some loss and thinning around his ankle area the front and on the tip of his feet at the front and on the end of each of his paws near where the claw stitches are.
Claude has some small patches of thinned and barer areas too on his face at the front more visible nearer to his ears on his temples.
However fortunately for us all Claude still retains the majority of his wonderful soft apricot coloured mohair !
His nose is stitched vertically with outer longer stitches at each end curving slightly inwards with a long inverted Y shaped and stitched mouth in double strands.
His paw pads and ear linings have no holes in any of them but have a few tiny bald spots to the pile ,
Claude is stuffed softly to his arms with a kapok type filling , and also to his legs but with perhaps some wood wool in his feet . His body, head and muzzle area are all stuffed completely with wood wool!
Monsieur Claude is a five-way jointed French bear his joints however are stiff with a touch of old bear rheumatics and as he is not getting any younger he doesn't move as well as he did in his younger bear days but this doesn't seem to bother or trouble him really.
He comes dressed in his newly knitted waistcoat with a little letter 'C' pinned to it which was given to him as a farewell present from his bear friends in France.
We do hope that Claude's hopes and beliefs in us for finding him the prefect loving retirement home will not be dashed as we usually do find our old bear friends some very wonderful homes!
