DAFFANELLA A CHAD VALLEY BEAR C1950
Daffenella's favourite flower of all is the cheerful daffodil and being such a pretty and cheerful little bear herself and born too in the Spring Season !
Little Daffenella's name was given to her inspired by this humble, flower of Springtime happiness!
Springtime also brings Easter along it with it and Pretty Daffenella loves nothing more than going on the annual Easter egg hunt at Easter time in the grand county home garden nearby collecting the Easter eggs hidden amongst the bluebells and daffodils and of course perhaps eating just a few!
Daffenella is a sweet Chad Valley bear dating to C1950 and She measures 14" in height .
Little Daffenella is a lovely soft cuddle of a little bear as she is stuffed mainly throughout with kapok , with just a little in the central area of her tummy where her press squeaker is which sadly no longer works for her and a little in her muzzle .
Daffenella has had a some stitches added to her nose stitching and been given some later glass replacement eyes which suit her perfectly.
Once upon a time when Daffenella was a much younger bear she had the most wonderful coverage of light blonde long wavy mohair all over but over the passing years she has lost some of it from all the love and hugs she once received but as always we can forgive a bear for this cant we because it really would be a terrible episode in a bears life if they had never been loved wouldn't it?
Little Daffenella was indeed well loved once and her little paw pads have both been recovered in felt for at some time in her bear life and very neatly too.
However Her foot pads still have their original cotton covering with eveidence of where her Chad valley warrant label was once stitched on her right foot pad and rexine coating to the cotton .
Delightful Daffenella is hoping with all her heart that she might find a loving forever home this Easter and so she has picked out her prettiest Spring vintage dress for you and put her favourite silk ribbons around her head and carries a little decorative Easter egg too.
She will also come with some other Little Easter treats and surprises should you perhaps adopt her!

LITTLE GUS - A FARNELL / TWYFORD BEAR C1940/1950
Little Gus is a cute 12 1/2" Farnell/ Twyford bear dating to C1940/1950.
He has a very good coverage all over of thick, shortly cropped mohair in a lovely light golden colour resembling what else for a bear but honey !!
Being a very active little bear who likes to keep fit and healthy Little Gus has no problems at all with his joints , they all move and turn well for him which is good news when you want to go on bear adventures !
His paw and foot pads are all covered in their original rexine coated cotton but all show some signs of age and wear with surface rubbing but have no holes in any of them.
Little Gus is a quiet little bear these days mainly because he doesn't have anyone to talk to and go on bear adventures with and also because his press squeaker in his tum is all pooped out !
We love Little Gus and hope you will do too and should you adopt him he promises to bring along one of those Easter eggs he has gathered up and a few other little treats too for you!

DAISY -MOON A VERY SWEET LITTLE CHAD VALLEY BEAR C1950
She is an adorable little bear with such a pleasingly sweet and kind personality that just makes you want to love her 'To the moon and back !'
Daisy-Moon is a gorgeously fluffy little Chad Valley bear with a lovely coverage of long , golden coloured wavy mohair with very little thinning and loss.
There is a little light thinning to the back of her right arm near to the seam but nothing really to noticeable or detrimental in my my eyes and a little on the tip of her right foot but again this is nothing really .
She measures just 13" and so is a lovely little handful of a bear if ever there was!
Pretty Little Daisy-Moon is stuffed firmly with a kapok filling to her limbs and a mixture of wood wool and kapok in her tummy and wood wool in her head.
Daisy-Moon has kept her original amber and black glass eyes and has also kept her characteristic Chad stitched nose and mouth stitching perfectly.
She is a five-way jointed little bear and all her joints turn and move well for her . Her little legs tend to swing a little bit and her nods forward and from side to side slightly but this just adds to her overall gorgeous charm and is nothing worrying or in any way detrimental to her.
There are two very tiny frays to the seams on the front of her right leg near the bottom and one on the tip of her foot again these are nothing worrying and are not causing Daisy-Moon any concerns at all and I have only mentioned them for accuracy.
Daisy-Moon has rexine type covered paw pads and they are all in good order with just a little age rubbing to the surface but with no holes or damage to them.
Because its not the time for Daisy chains just yet we have given Daisy-Moon the prettiest ribbon bow we would pick and a little wooden heart to give to you should you fall in Love with her!

THEODORE - A VERY HANDSOME AMERICAN BEAR C1920/30
He adores the Grander things in life , just like him really as he measures 24" in height.
Theodore loves horses, racing , and of course a bet or two and as he is rather a lucky old bear, he often comes back from a day at the races with more dollars than he went with !
Theodore really is the most handsome Wonderful looking American bear that we have had here at Once upon a time bears for a long time and he certainly carries a Very handsome presence about him!
He is quite a heavy Old bear , stuffed firmly with woodwool throughout.
Theodore is in Great condition for a bear of his age and stature and has the most absolutely gorgeous coverage all over of Golden marmalade coloured mohair which is long and thick with a little wave in it too!
He has the American characteristic almost triangualar shaped head with broad straight forehead and closely set small glass eyes which are original to him also.
Theodore has retained his original black horizontal stitched nose and mouth stitching perfectly.
His paw and foot pads all have their original felt covering to the pads and again are in jolly good condition really considering his age with no repairs or nasty holes in them.
Like many American Old bears he has limbs that are slightly different sizes . In Theodore's case it is His right arm and if you look and study him very closely from a side angle you can just notice that it is just a little shorter than his left arm but to be truthful its really not that noticeable and again this is a common characteristic with the early American bears!
Theodore used to growl in his younger days but his tilt growler in his tummy just clunks around inside now but who needs to growl when you are as handsome as Theodore!
We think Theodore is a true Winner of a American bear and with his good lucks he will no doubt be racing off past the winning post very soon Too!

LITTLE CEDRIC - A WILLIAM J TERRYS BEAR C1920
William J Terry's bear are quite hard to find and naturally little Cedric here is very close to our hearts whenever we look at his wonderful face and his heart tugging expression that just pleads with you to adopt and love him!
Little Cedric has been a little orphan bear for quite some time now and because of this he looks a little sad and lonely here but we are ever hopeful that we can change all of this for Little Cedric here at Once upon a time bears .
He measures just a little over 11" , and because he is not a very big bear and is a little on the meek side he tends to be a little nervous and gets easily worried when he is on his own , so what little Cedric really needs is a family of bears with some brothers and sisters to look after him and make him happy again !
Little Cedric has just a whisper of mohair left on his little bod , infact he has most of the sprinklings of mohair left on his little head really.
He has his original clear glass eyes and he has retained his original nose and mouth stitching, with just one thread broken in his nose .
Because he has lost most of his mohair you can see the pin wire/pin joints peeping through the cloth and where they have rusted and marked the material , this is quite normal and all commensurate with age and the manner in which he has been jointed originally.
His neck is jointed and turns and moves well for him.
Little Cedric has kept all of his five black claw stitches to his paw pads and feet and his pads are all covered in their original cotton cloth material and are all in good order. His little feet are card lined also.
Bless him he looks a hungry little bear , when he is undressed doesn't he?...........because he has lost his mohair you can clearly see the outline of his sticking out squeeze box squeaker due to some of the surrounding wood wool shifting over the years. This we think just adds to his endearing look don't you think?
Little Cedric comes dressed in his Vintage styled outfit and with a little bell around his neck too.
Perhaps you have a family of little bears that might mother little Cedric here .....now that really would be a Great start to the New year for Little Cedric here!

LITTLE GUNNER ALFIE C1920/30
We are not quite sure of what platoon he was in during the War , he could be German ,French or American with those unusual felt original ears slotted into his head, but which ever country he hails from he is one very different and unusual little old soldier!!
He measures a well love and hugged 15" .
Little Gunner Alfie is stuffed solidly and firmly throughout with wood wool .
He is a five way jointed little bear and all his joints turn well for him.
The front facial seams of Little Gunner Alfie are also quite distinctive in their triangular form coming to the tip end of his snout.
His paw pads have all been recovered and lovingly and caringly patched in silk material many moons ago and you can just see a little glimpse of felt peeping out from below the silk material on the edge of his left foot pad, which tells us that his original pads were once made in felt.
Gunner Alfie has stiffened felt ears as earlier mentioned that are slotted into slits in the top of his head and we believe that these ears are original to him too!
His nose and mouth stitching is original to him and is quite distinctive in its simple horizontal thick broad stitch for a nose and upturned letter 'V' thick broad stitches for his mouth.
Gunner Alfie has lost a few black claw stitches to paws and feet over the years but has still managed to retain a few.
The only stitched war wound that we can see and find to this lovely old soldier apart from his paw pads is on the inside of his top left leg where he was obviously laid up in the field Hospital when he was once in the Great war and treated kindly by a nurse there!
This scar has healed up nicely for him over the years and doesn't cause him any problems these days!
Little Gunner Alfie comes dressed in old vintage vest with Patriotic enamelled pin with ribbons .
Poor old Gunner Alfie , because of the Great War that he served so bravely and valiantly in he suffers from a touch of Shell shock , so his growling days are now over for him and nowadays he is rather a quiet and subdued old bear , so what he he really needs now is a very Peaceful , loving caring home which hopefully we will find for him soon !

LITTLE APRICOT-POLLEN A CHILTERN BEAR
She is such a dainty delight of a little bear measuring just 12 1/2" on her tiptoes!
Apricot-Pollen was brought up in the 1930's and so rather naturally she loves the dances and music of that time . Her very favourite dance of all is the 'Charleston and she loves nothing more than putting her prettiest Apricot flapper dress on and her silk ribbon head band and dancing happily for all the bears, birds and butterflies.
This sweet and pretty faced little bear has been a well loved and hugged little bear over the years as you can tell and why not when you are a little Charleston charmer of a bear!
She has just a light dusting of blonde coloured mohair left on her body these days and most of it has been kissed away from her face and cheeks with nothing really on her tummy but she doesn't care because her pretty flapper dress covers up any modesty!
Apricot- Pollen has retained her original nose and mouth stitching quite perfectly and her small amber glass eyes too.
Her sweet and gentle nature is loved by all and Apricot-Pollen loves all the beauty and nature in her life too and is at her happiest in the garden dancing along with the fluttering butterflies and tending to the pretty flowers.
She is a five-way jointed little bear and all her joints move well for her still so her dancing days are not over yet for her although her head tends to nod forward a little as her neck joint is a little less tight as it was back in the 1930's but this doesn't bother her really and a kind nurse many Summers ago has given her a little holding stitch here which again Apricot-Pollen isn't troubled about and has forgotten all about it!
Her paw pads are all covered in their original cotton cloth material and have no holes in them and she has preserved well all her black claw stitches to each pad perfectly!
With Autumn fast approaching and cooler days and nights in the garden Little Apricot-Pollen would love to find a warm loving home for ever-more hugs , we tend to think that Apricot -Pollen wont have too much of a problem in finding that Special person and home do you agree?
